Client Description:

Offering comprehensive interactive wireless solutions, products, and active wireless real-time networks, this growing company seeks a Director of Product Engineering – a skilled communicator and leader of people who can also create quality designs while defining a company’s best practices.

Responsibilities Will Include:

The Director of Product Engineering is tasked with new product design and introduction to manufacturing, support of legacy product production requirements, interfacing at a business and technical level with vendors, customers, and internal supporting departments, as well as management several direct reports and control of all engineering matters. In this small company environment certain success will require strong leadership and tactical operations ability while working well with and within the team.

With customer/vendor centric communications combining with hands-on design responsibility, this Director will lead the engineering efforts toward robust quality and cost effective manufacturability.


Responsible for all hardware engineering activities including but not limited to
- Designs
- Leading others in design, cost estimates, & specifications
- Managing personnel activities; leadership of and performance goals
- Defining and managing engineering budget
- Interacting with internal departments - production, regulatory, sales & marketing, finance, information services, and executive management
- Process and Quality Improvements & Continuous Improvement - defining best practices
- Support of manufacturing requirements in testing and quality
- Senior level position with 3-5 direct reports – test, manufacturing and design engineers
- Researching new technologies

Requirements:

SPECIFICATIONS FOR POSITION.

- BSEE with extensive experience in wireless systems & small wireless devices (handsets, etc)
- 7 to 10 years experience in engineering leadership role
- Understand wireless security, vehicle tracking and vending telemetry
- Understand the relationship of firmware to hardware
- Customer or vendor communications, international preferred.
- Travel less than 10% expected
